Desert Sands Alive

Upon the counter seat she sits
Riding tall with pride
In her mind she’s gone away
Across the deserts sands
When a sweet disturbance passes by
And her eyes do flicker wide
She’s seen me and she’s smiled
Her horse, her guardian, interrupts
And does shimmy wild to say
“On our way my Lady Grace”
A high sierra wave she gifts
A flick of the finger
She is gone
Back to the romance of hot desert sands
And me?
Now naught but a printed memory on the light of the day
