Impenetrable

He’s an impenetrable wall of confusion
A book with the spine broken
Where only angry hurt and fear escape
Love held back in a trust account
Not to be touched in this lifetime
For that would bring imbalance
Bring feeling to the forefront
Asking him to know things he’s not ready to know
To taste things he’s not ready to taste
To touch a tenderness as yet completely foreign
This is his lonely life
Well rehearsed now
As he makes peace with his lot and stirs the dinner on the plate.
